Westgate students voted this week for their favorite books for three different statewide children's choice reading awards. All K-3 students voted during library class for the 2017 Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award. They have been read and/or had lessons on all the books during library class.
Students in grades 4-6 who read some or all of the nominees voted for the 2017 Sasquatch Award and the 2017 Young Reader's Choice Award (Junior Division). These books are also called Best Books and two teams of students who have read many of the Best Books will be going to district Battle of the Books on April 28 to compete against other teams.
The winner of all three awards will be announced in April after the votes are tallied across Washington State.
